Elevating Our Industry: The Vital Role of NATM Committee Volunteers
Submissions Are No Longer Being Accepted
As the fall season approaches, it’s that time of year again when members of the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) have the opportunity to step up and make a difference. Committee volunteer assignments for the upcoming year are now open, and the enthusiasm for participation has only been growing! With interest indicators available to all NATM members and submissions due by November 27, this is your chance to get involved in shaping the future of our industry.
NATM’s committees are the backbone of the organization, steering its work and ensuring that programming and opportunities truly benefit the trailer industry. Each committee plays a critical role in evaluating and enhancing the resources and benefits that NATM members receive. The growing number of volunteers each year highlights just how committed our community is to advancing our industry.
Why Volunteer?
Joining a committee is more than just a title; it’s about making a real impact. Whether you’re passionate about finance, education, membership, or government affairs, there’s a committee that aligns with your interests and expertise. Each group meets via video conference calls, typically on a monthly or quarterly basis, allowing members to contribute from anywhere.
Here’s a closer look at some of the committees and their objectives:
- Finance Committee: Responsible for planning and monitoring NATM's finances, this committee ensures the association remains fiscally sound. They meet quarterly to review financials and make recommendations.
- Membership Committee: Focused on recruiting new members and evaluating benefits, this committee plays a key role in member satisfaction and engagement. They generally meet every other month.
- Education Committee: This committee drives industry education through workshops and webinars, curating programs that enhance member knowledge. They meet every two months, with most planning occurring between March and August.
- Convention Committee: Tasked with overseeing the planning of the Annual NATM Convention & Trade Show, this committee recommends speakers and topics while working to increase attendance. They typically meet every two months.
- Government Affairs Committee: This committee advocates for the trailer industry by raising visibility among key government officials and shaping relevant laws and regulations. Meeting as often as monthly, they engage members in building relationships with Congress.
- Technical Committee: Focused on regulatory issues and safety, this committee reviews technical topics and ensures that the necessary materials are available for end users. They meet quarterly, with additional meetings as needed.
- Technology Committee: By serving as a forum for communication between manufacturers, this committee ensures that evolving technologies are functional across all vehicle types. They meet quarterly with ongoing collaboration.
- Compliance Committee: Overseeing NATM’s Compliance Verification Program, this committee reviews Guidelines and recommends necessary updates. They meet quarterly, with the possibility of more frequent meetings.
- Trailer Dealer Committee: This group aims to align NATM’s offerings with dealer needs, enhancing safety and program development. They meet every month, focusing on ongoing industry unification and safety.
